Getting started

What is ExpensePulse?

ExpensePulse is a personal finance app for tracking accounts, transactions, receipts, bills, budgets, and goals in one place. You enter your own data — we don't require bank logins.

Is ExpensePulse free?

Yes. There is a free plan with core tracking features. Paid plans add higher limits and extras like more AI queries. You can upgrade or cancel anytime from billing settings.

How do I add an account?

From the dashboard, open Accounts and choose Add. Name the account, pick a currency, and set a starting balance. Accounts are manual — we don't auto-import from banks, which keeps your credentials yours.

Accounts & transactions

Does ExpensePulse connect to my bank?

Not today. You log transactions yourself or import CSV files. That keeps setup simple and avoids sharing banking credentials with a third party.

How do recurring transactions work?

On the Transactions page, open Recurring transactions to schedule repeating income or expenses (rent, salary, subscriptions). When auto-post is on, entries are created on the schedule you set.

Can I import transactions from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Use Import on the Transactions page to upload a CSV. Map columns to date, amount, category, and description, then review before saving.

Bills & sharing

Can I split a bill with someone who doesn't use the app?

Yes. Shared bills generate a link the other person can open without an account so they can see what they owe and how it was split.

How do bill reminders work?

Add recurring bills with a due date and turn on email reminders in Settings → Notifications. We'll email you a few days before a bill is due.

Privacy & security

Is my data encrypted?

Yes — in transit with HTTPS and at rest on our infrastructure. You can export your data to CSV or PDF, and deleting your account permanently removes your data.

Who can see my financial data?

Only you, unless you explicitly share a bill or invite someone to a project. We don't sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Plans & billing

How does the AI assistant work?

It answers questions about your own data — spending by category, recent transactions, trends, and similar. It sees relevant rows from your account, not your login or payment details. Free plans include a limited number of queries per month.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, anytime from the billing page or your account menu. You keep access until the end of the current billing period, then return to the free plan. Your data stays.

I found a bug — how do I report it?

Email support@expensepulse.com with what you were doing and a screenshot if you can. We read every message and usually reply within a day or two.
