Why people use it
Reads the boring bits
Text recognition pulls out the merchant name, the total, and the date so you only confirm instead of typing.
Receipt stays with the expense
The image is saved alongside the transaction, so it's there when you need to prove a purchase, return something, or claim it back.
You stay in control
Nothing is saved until you review it. Fix anything the scan got wrong before it reaches your ledger.
Categories on autopilot
Set up rules once — say, anything from a supermarket is Groceries — and new expenses get categorized for you.
How it works
- 1
Open Add transaction and choose to scan a receipt.
- 2
Take a photo or upload an image of the receipt.
- 3
Check the merchant, total, and date, then save.
Questions about receipt scanner
What file types can I scan?+
Photos and image files (such as JPG and PNG) are scanned automatically. You can attach a PDF receipt to a transaction, but PDFs aren't read automatically yet.
What does the receipt scanner read?+
It looks for the merchant name, the total amount, and the purchase date. You review everything before the expense is saved.
Is the receipt scanner free?+
Yes. Receipt scanning is part of ExpensePulse's free plan. Paid plans add higher limits and extras.
Where are my receipts stored?+
Receipt images are stored securely with the transaction they belong to, encrypted in transit and at rest. Only you can see them unless you share a bill.
